What If His Christmas Drawing
Didn't Have to Stay on Paper?
One little drawing at our kitchen table became the beginning of something we never expected.
🧵 It Started With a Drawing
One afternoon, my son was sitting at the table drawing Christmas pictures. Santa, bright colors, little holiday details—everything coming together exactly the way he imagined it.
He was so proud of that drawing.
“What if this didn't have to stay on a piece of paper?”
I placed his drawing beside some fabric and started wondering whether those little pencil lines could become something real.
So I began choosing fabrics, cutting shapes, layering pieces, matching colors, and slowly stitching everything together.
Little by little, the drawing began to change.
From Pencil Lines to Something You Can Hold
The red pencil became fabric.
The Christmas details became layered appliqué and stitching.
And the simple picture on the table slowly became a real Christmas carryall.
When I finally showed him the finished piece, he recognized his idea immediately.
That reaction meant more to me than whether every seam was perfectly straight or every tiny detail came out exactly as planned.
That was when this became more than just another Christmas bag.
It became a reminder that a child's idea may look small to us—but to them, it can feel enormous.
